Choosing The Right Thigh Sleeve:
The majority of thigh sleeve products on the market today are made from 3/16 inch neoprene which provides warmth without a thick, bulky feeling while wearing the sleeve. While they're comfortable and lightweight for all day use, there's some helpful pointers to consider when trying to decide on which thigh sleeve is right for you: 1) Is the thigh sleeve for injury recovery or athletic use? A standard sleeve is contoured to provide both comfort and compression and will easily fit 85-90% of people with a normal build and is effective for everyday use for recovering from a quadricep strain or hamstring injury. Thigh sleeves with added cinch straps may be more useful for athletic competition as they're able to apply additional, focused compression over the injury site in addition to what is provided by the sleeve itself. 2) Are you going to wear it in humidity/hot weather a factor? Today's thigh sleeves also come in a variety of neoprene-free materials which perform equally well without trapping perspiration and heat. These designs can provide added comfort for use in hot, humid conditions. 3) Appreciate how neoprene naturally wears over time: The fact is today's neoprene thigh sleeve products stretch out over time with constant daily use - it's natural. Standard thigh sleeves made from neoprene material are great for daily wear whether it's for recovering from a recent injury or for use with sports. As with most activity though, they will start begin to stretch out over 6-8 months. For daily sports activty, it may be worth considering a neoprene-free alternative as they perform just as well, and resist stretching out which can and does occur more frequently with athletic use.
