The pad is specially designed to inflate with water thereby applying focused compression to help reduce edema. The system is simple to use and does not have any motorized parts which can break down over time. Simply hold the cooler up in the air and gravity fills the back/hip/rib cryocuff with cold water quickly. The system remains cold for 5-6 hours before needing to be replenished with ice and water. The portable nature of the product makes it ideally suited for patient use at home, the hospital, or while traveling - simply disconnect the hose from the pad and you're able to move about freely without the cooler.
