The ASO Flex Hinge Ankle Brace combines the proven technology of the ASO's patented strapping system with an articulated plastic shell for superior ankle stabilization. The inner cuff is built into the nylon boot to provide the highest level of support to resist injuries involving separation of the lower tibia from the fibula including syndesmosis ankle sprains (high ankle sprains). The hinge articulates along with the ankle joint anatomy to help enhance comfort and patient compliance. The ASO Flex-Hinge is lined with SkinLoc material for a soft, comfortable feeling. Stabilizing straps on the outside provide a figure-8 lock function to capture the calcaneus for the the highest degree of medial-lateral stability available ankle sprain protection.
ASO FlexHinge Ankle Brace Features:
- Internal plastic shell works with the lace-up design to provide a cuff around the tibia and fibula

Super supportive
I have a minor fracture in my ankle and surgery is not recommended since I can walk and do other activities, but this brace has provided the necessary support during my workouts.
Very good
I tried this brace because I have sprained my left ankle now probably 5 times and needed to try a more heavy-duty brace that would provide more stability for my ankle. I have been wearing it now for 2 weeks and this definitely is performing way better than I had imagined. Recommended.
Good for weak ankles
I have weak ankles and sprained my ankle for the 5th time while playing with my kids. I bought this to have more support and with side to side movement, which is how I sprained my ankle this time. I'm happy to say that the brace fits inside all of my sneakers which I was afraid was going to be an issue. The stirrup plus the lace-up design keeps my ankle in the correct position. Now I can play some soccer with the boys and now have to worry about my ankle giving way underneath me.
Best ankle brace I've ever used.
This brace is great. I broke my ankle around 6 years ago in a high school lacrosse game, and have had issues with the ankle ever since. I wore various casts for around a year and went to PT for a little while but never did the exercises at home (didn't realize I'd start slowing down a little bit in my twenties lol). My ankle still aches sometimes and it gives out easily and rolls a lot. My doctor said that ankle injuries almost never heal 100%, and you can lose the elasticity of the tendons in your ankle, leaving them perma-wobbly. So, I need some support when I run. I have tried more minimalistic braces, but they usually don't give the right amount of support. This brace works so well for two reasons: 1. the laces (yes, annoying and less attractive, but it makes all the difference. This also ensures that the brace will be tight enough even if you order one a little too big). 2. The side straps (totally immobilize your ankle to keep it straight and at a 45 degree angle, which is essential for healing). This brace is exactly the same as the one that my doctor gave me after I got out of the casts, so it's practically medical grade. I got the white one because it looks better with my running shoes. I was worried about it getting gross but the box says you can machine wash the brace. I wear a 6.5 women's shoe (U.S.), and I ordered a small. Fits perfectly. The sizing chart on the box is slightly different from the one posted here so I'll include a picture of that. Perfect overall for serious stability. Probably too constricting for someone looking for light or moderate support.
After wearing a boot
I was hoping to put the cam walker boot away in the closet for good after breaking my ankle earlier this year. The doctor was OK with that idea provided that I use this brace. It was a nice change as this is pretty lightweight but strong, and I'm able to wear it inside shoes.
Highly recommend
I twisted and rolled my ankle resulting in multiple tears and inflamed tendons. This is a chronic injury that affects daily activity. Since the surgical option can limit mobility and ankle replacement is short-lived, I needed a brace that would provide stability and reduce the likelihood of further injury. As a wearer of custom orthotics for many years prior to my injury, a certified orthotist recommended this brace to me and it's excellent. At first, it seems time-consuming to put on, but it quickly becomes second nature. Shoes can be a bit of a challenge, but the brace will fit into sneakers (New Balance work well) and lace-up oxfords (think Keen and Merrell here). It will not fit into dress shoes, which, as a female, is disappointing, but to be expected. Snow boots are an issue because the brace limits the flexibility of the ankle to "wiggle" into the boot. Boots will need to have a tongue that opens completely. When I need to keep my feet dry, I've had success with low duck boots. I highly recommend this brace. I purchased it on sale at DME Direct at a great price and I received it quickly.
More supportive than my original ASO
This brace delivers on the promise of offering more support than the regular ASO brace. My only wish is that the brace fit better laterally, on both sides of the ankle. Too much extra fabric for my comfort. Overall, not too bad for a non-custom option.
High ankle sprain relief
I have had to deal with high ankle sprains on both ankles all my life which definitely restricted me to do the physical activities I enjoy. As I was doing a little research on top quality ankle braces I came across Medspec Flex-hinge ankle brace. The description about the ankle brace was very suitable for my ankle conditions. I purchased two of these flex-hinged ankle braces and have been wearing them almost everywhere I go, especially during physical activities. One more thing that intrigued me about this product is that it was manufactured in the United States. GREAT PRODUCT.
