DeRoyal ALGIDEX Ag I.V. Patch Silver Alginate Catheter Dressing is used in hospitals to reduce bacterial colonization that can occur with catheter-related infections. The Algidex IV catheter dressing is a non-irritating self-activating small sterile circular patch of polyurethane foam coated with ionic silver alginate and maltodextrin matrix that absorbs moisture around the catheter wound site.
DeRoyal ALGIDEX Ag I.V. Patch Silver Alginate Catheter Dressing Features:
- Activates when applied to incision site - and lasts for up to 7 days.
- Active antimicrobial ionic silver plus maltodextrin.

- Soft polyurethane foam feels pleasant against incision site.
- Various sizes available.
What makes Algidex different from other antimicrobial dressings? One of the main differences is that some other brands use topical antiseptics like Chlorhexadine or Betadine, which can be absorbed into your skin. Algidex is not absorbed into your body, thus reducing risks of systemic effects, skin irritation and life threatening allergic reactions that have been reported with the use of the above mentioned antiseptics.
